FOOD DRIVE - all year donations by Members

We support Glasgow City Mission. We have a large box at the entrance to the Church throughout the year and in this our Members and Friends regularly donate all sorts of tinned food and non perishable items. Once the box is full we contact the Mission and they come and collect the items and this happens regularly through the year. Leading up to Christmas we also have a box in which out Members and Friends put donations of gifts such as socks, gloves, hats and other items of clothing and also toiletries for men, women and children as well as toys. Our Harvest Service is held in October and donations almost double. We visited the Glasgow City Mission in November 2012 and saw their stores of food piled high but we were informed that although the stocks were high then by the time April came it would almost be depleted. We therefore took the decision at our AGM that the box would be there all year round and this has enabled us to keep donating throughout the year as well as at Harvest time.
